From motivation to discipline

by Cesare Rocchi

Motivation. It has been my fuel many times in the past. I’d wake up in the morning and let her feed my engines. No complaints. Really.

Now I am living a phase of my life in which motivation is not enough, it’s too much ups-and-downs. I’d have highly productive days mixed with horrible days, in which I can’t get anything done.

So a while ago I switched fuel. Now it’s discipline. I show up everyday and execute a plan that someone else has thought. No questions, just execution. Well, it was me to dictate the plan, a while ago, but I prefer to think it was someone else.

The new fuel keeps everything more steady, with fewer ups-and-downs. Which is exactly what I was looking for.
